Safety

Our approach to safety at Sailability Wellington

We recognise that we operate in a multi-hazard environment where accidents can happen, and we take safety very seriously. We have an extensive set of sailing-related safety protocols, updated regularly and approved by Yachting New Zealand.

Our volunteers all receive on-site training for the role they perform, and we support many of our volunteers to undertake additional training including formal first aid and skipper training. We also have policies in place specific to our work with people with disabilities, including a child and vulnerable adults protection policy. As a charitable trust, Sailability is registered with the Charities Commission and meets all associated regulatory requirements.
